One day ahead of Whitney Houston’s funeral, the singer’s family gathered in her Newark, N.J., hometown to begin their goodbyes to Houston. Dionne Warwick, the musician’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and her mother, Cissy Houston, reportedly attended a wake at the Whigham funeral home Friday. Caroline Whigham, the funeral director, told those gathered outside the funeral home that the viewing “was done in privacy. It was between a mother, a daughter, two brothers, and a family.” Houston’s funeral will be held Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church, also in Newark. (Also known as the church in which Houston got her start as a singer.)
